Key concepts
In Part 3 - Literature: texts and contexts there are several key concepts that help us make informed interpretations of texts. If we are going to meet the learning outcomes, we will want to become familiar with phrases such as the 'context of interpretation', 'target audience', or even 'roman a clef'.
Remember that texts are not written or read in a vacuum. Authors and readers are influenced by their context. Before you begin to make interpretations of literary texts you will want to have the tools to analyze texts in context. This section provides you with those.
In this section you will find brief one-off activities that help you focus on a particular concept. You can apply them to texts that you are reading for Part 3. See the menu on the left for an overview of the concepts that are relevant to Part 3.
